This year's Grand Marshal was announced on October 10th. Selected was George G. Borum of Centralia. Mr. Borum created the original wooden pumpkins in 1949 to decorate the lilght poles along the parade route. The downtown merchants held a contest involving these decorations as one of the pumpkins had a "golden tooth" and the winners who spotted it received prizes from the Centralia stores. Mr. Borum also designed and built many award winning floats through the 50's and 60's and was known to create large elaborate mechanisms and graphics to bring them to life.
